It’s painful to watch. Labeled and vandalized, the old store Bleeding, located opposite the center commercial of Saint-Orens, in the municipality of Toulouseis abandoned, two years later the validation by the courts of the vast skimming plan of the Mulliez group company.
One of the 16 Alinéa stores closed in 2020
The Toulouse brand had closed its doors definitively in September 2020, shortly after the judgment handed down by the Commercial Court of Marseille, which concluded that the activity of‘Bleeding, but with the declaration of bankruptcy of many stores in the group. Because if nine stores were saved (including the one in Blagnac), another 16 were condemned, including the one in Toulouse Saint-Orens, which led to the abolition of about 992 jobs.
The closure of this jewel of decoration and furniture, the real economic engine of the sector, has also been another blow to the merchants of the mall de Saint-Orens, where dozens of commercial cells are empty to this day.
Abandoned and wrecked at the entrance to Toulouse
Since that date, the old Alinéa premises have been empty and falling into disrepair… They pale in comparison to this entrance to Toulouse. The facade was labelledthe crystals brokenand access to the store, until now blocked by wooden planks, He was forced.
Concrete blocks and barbed wire installed
Faced with these repeated acts of vandalism, the owner hit hard last week: from September 19 to 23, extensive work was carried out on the site to prevent any access to the store.
In the parking lot large cement blocks were installed to secure the site and prevent access by caravans, the site being regularly squatted by travelers, as was still the case in the summer of 2022.
Instead of destroyed wooden palisades, the owner of the site erected a gigantic cinder Block Wall, but also of barbed wireto prevent the entry of squatters… “The store is already completely closed,” he argues laurent de sayvefounder of the company Imocom Partners, owner of this premises, of which the Mulliez group was the tenant until Alinéa declared bankruptcy.
The former Alinea will be divided into three commercial cells
The owner, who according to our sources has encountered some marketing difficulties, plans to accelerate the remodeling work in the coming months, for the delivery of the planned premises “in the first half of 2024”, parcel laurent de sayve which is currently fine-tuning a redevelopment plan for the site in various storesinstead of Paragraph.
“The current building will be restructured. Our goal is to divide it into three business units.”
If the current building structure is maintained, the Imocom boss wants, in particular, to redesign the site to allow future occupants to have “three separate entrances”, but common parking.
Domestic or personal equipment?
Despite the setbacks of many brands in the neighboring shopping center, Laurent De Sayve wants to be confident in the potential of this commercial area, where his company also owns numerous stores (Action, Castorama, etc.), with the notable exception of the shopping center itself, which is owned by the investor Klépierre: “We are very satisfied with the area, where there is good assistance “.
The elected officials of the Toulouse city council, for their part, have set a course together with their counterparts from Saint-Orens: according to our information, they asked the owner not to have no food sign on this site, and I have invited you to favor businesses of the type house team Y of the person.
Meanwhile, if the decorative fresco that still announces the “new products” for spring/summer 2020 still adorns the façade, two years later, the old Alinéa flanked by its new barbed wire seems more a detention center than a furniture store…
