Pensions, family allowances… social benefits should increase in 2023

It was a promise made by the Minister of Economy, Bruno Le Maire, during the examination in the National Assembly of the amending budget: pensions will be revalued again on January 1, 2023. The increase will occur, they confirm the echoes on Sunday, which had access to the Social Security financing bill for 2023. Since the beginning of the year, adding all the revaluations (1.1% on January 1 and 4% by the purchasing power law on July 1 ), a total increase of 5.5% is obtained. but like everyone revaluations they only came into force in the middle of the year, the government calculated in the Social Security Financing Law Project (PLFSS) that this was equivalent to 3.1% for pensions, details Les Echos.

Therefore, there is a residual increase for January 1, 2023, which is estimated at 0.8%. Therefore, there will be a new increase in inflation for 2022, but it will be slight. Less than expected, because the Social Security Code establishes that pensions are revalued each year according to a precise calculation: the revaluation of January 1, 2023 was to make the relationship between the average price index for the period from November 2020 to October 2021 and that between November 2021 and October 2022. But during these periods, the inflation figures were much weaker than today.
